About Coach

Greg brings over two decades of coaching experience and a passion for empowering others to feel stronger, healthier, and more confident. With a specialty in endurance training and cycling, Greg’s coaching style is energetic, welcoming, and deeply rooted in compassion. His fitness journey began in 2015 with CrossFit, initially joining partner WODs at Raleigh CrossFit and participating in charity events like the Balls4Balls fundraiser in Garner. While CrossFit remains a part of his fitness story, Greg’s true coaching roots lie in indoor cycling. Since 2005, he’s been a staple on the spin bikes at the Alexander YMCA, leading classes that challenge and inspire. Greg’s transformation journey is personal. After losing 50 pounds at age 40 through smart eating and movement, he was hired by NC State University and NC Public Health as the lead instructor for the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less program. A role he held for nearly 9 years. His career began with certifications from IFTA and AFAA, and while he no longer maintains those, he always keeps his First Aid/CPR/AED certifications current. What fuels Greg’s passion for coaching is simple yet powerful: helping people feel better about themselves. That same energy is what drew him to CrossFit SERVE, which he proudly describes as “the most diverse, inclusive, supportive, and non-judgmental fitness community I’ve ever encountered—EVER.” Outside the gym, Greg is full of surprises. He has a street named after him in Emerald Isle, NC, and once sang with Dolly Parton. He’s a pickleball enthusiast who never leaves his paddle out of his gym bag, and his dream vacation is a week at Dollywood in an all-inclusive hotel. When it comes to CrossFit, he loves box step-ups, but skips the box jumps. One of his favorite quotes comes from Alice Walker: “I think it pisses God off when you walk by THE COLOR PURPLE in a field and don’t notice it.” Whether you’re hopping on a spin bike or just starting your fitness journey, Greg brings warmth, wisdom, and wit to every session.
