Melissa’s journey into fitness began in high school when she discovered CrossFit in 2015 at her local box. Instantly hooked by the intensity, variety, and technical aspects—especially Olympic lifting—she dove deep into exploring movement patterns and functional fitness. Along the way, CrossFit led her to yoga, creating a dynamic blend of strength and mindfulness that continues to shape her approach today.
With nearly a decade of experience in CrossFit and a background teaching yoga since college, Melissa brings a unique perspective to coaching. After earning her RYT 200 in 2019 through a local studio sponsorship, she continued to teach while completing her studies. Upon moving to Raleigh, she found her community at CrossFit SERVE and transitioned from athlete to coach, inspired by the vibrant and supportive culture around her.
Melissa believes movement should be accessible, safe, and affirming for everyone. Her classes balance structure with spontaneity. Expect thoughtful breath-to-movement integration and genuine encouragement. She’s passionate about helping athletes feel empowered in their bodies while fostering longevity through functional training.
When she’s not coaching or flowing on the mat, Melissa is likely dreaming of the Amalfi Coast, refining her mustard palate, or brushing out her hair post-WOD. Favorite movement? Barbell cycling. Least favorite? Anything that resembles Fran.
